Juventus say in-demand Chiellini ''not for sale''

December 28, 2009

Juventus have dismissed reports that defender Giorgio Chiellini could move to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

Reports have claimed that local rivals Manchester City and United are battling it out to sign the £12 million-rated Italy international in the New Year. However, after goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was also linked with a transfer away from the club, Juventus have moved to state the duo are not for sale.

The Serie A giants' sporting director Alessio Secco insists the club have no intention of letting their key players leave the Stadio Olimpico.

"We are used to reading of possible interest in our players from other clubs," Secco told the club's official website. "Like Buffon or Chiellini, just to mention today's examples.

"I want to assert this is totally fake news and I take the chance to reaffirm that Juventus won't give its champions away, that we'll keep on working to achieve our targets."
