Bolton chairman Phil Gartside won't panic

November 23, 2009

Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside is not ready to press the "panic button" despite a poor run of form that has left the club in the Premier League relegation zone.

Bolton have won only one of their past six league games and a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday means that, under manager Gary Megson, they have secured just one victory at home in the league this season.

Trotters fans have never really taken to Megson since his appointment in October 2007 and the team's propensity for conceding goals - 11 alone in their past three games - means he is under pressure to address Bolton's shortcomings.

But Gartside is sticking by his manager and is refusing to make any kneejerk reactions ahead of three successive away games against Fulham, Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"The next few games are going to be important, as they always are," Gartside told BBC Radio Manchester. "The season is 38 games and we are confident. We have been playing some good football, it's been decent stuff.

"No-one presses panic buttons around here. I have been in the game long enough not to do that."
