Mario Gomez gave Bayern the lead in the eighth minute, but in-form striker Stefan Kiessling replied six minutes later with a goal which was good enough to take Leverkusen back above Werder Bremen at the top of the table and maintain their unbeaten record this season.

And Bayern left the field to a chorus of whistles from 69,000 fans who have almost forgotten what it feels like to see their team win at home. The only consolation for Bayern is that the point takes them above Wolfsburg into seventh in the table.

Bayern who went ahead on eight minutes when Gomez scored his first goal in over two months, benefitting from a slightly fortunate pass from Miroslav Klose before placing his shot past Rene Adler.

Kiessling's equaliser in the 14th minute came almost against the run of play with the Germany forward beating the offside trap before skipping past Van Buyten and picking his spot beyond Hans-Jorg Butt.

Dennis Grote's second-half goal gave Bochum a surprise victory at Hamburg to end the visitors' four-game losing streak and gain three crucial points in their fight against relegation from the Bundesliga. Grote scored his first goal of the season in 77th minute as Hamburg's recent woes continued.

Hamburg have now gone five games without victory and have dropped four points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
