Pellegrini was hit on the side of the face midway through the second half of his side's 3-2 win at the Vicente Calderon on November 7. The referee went over to ask how the Chilean was and Pellegrini said he was okay to continue.

Atletico have been hit with fines by the RFEF for crowd incidents at their ground before. The Primera Division club also had to pay a 75,000 euros fine and were forced by UEFA to play a Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven behind closed doors due to incidents during a Champions League against Marseille last season.
