Mikel Arteta feels Everton is a "special" club

Arteta, 27, remains sidelined after rupturing a cruciate ligament in February and appears unlikely to play again this year, but speculation persists that he is keen to move back to his homeland.

Yet while he has not ruled out the possibility of a move, he feels he is at a "special" club and would be happy to see out the rest of his career at Goodison Park.

"You never know how long you are going to spend with a club, but what I can say is that I can see myself finishing my career at Everton," he told evertonTV. "That wouldn't surprise me at all.

"I've been at other clubs and I'm telling you this is a special one. The papers say, 'Mikel wants to go back to Spain soon'. That is not true. I never said that. They say, 'Would you like to come one day?' - probably I would like that, but maybe I am going to stay for another seven years."
