Bosnia's hopes of overturning their 1-0 first leg defeat to Portugal in the World Cup play-offs have been heavily undermined by the news that Zvjezdan Misimovic will miss Wednesday's return fixture.

The influential midfielder struggled win an injury in training on Tuesday and coach Miroslav Blazevic has confirmed that Misimovic, who plays his club football for Wolfsburg, will take no part in the second leg in Zenica.
Misimovic's replacement will be Haris Medunjanin who only last week was cleared by FIFA to represent the country having played for the Netherlands' Under-21 side earlier in his career.
"Misimovic is unfit to play on Wednesday. He received a knock in the first leg in Lisbon and Medunjanin will replace him," Blazevic told a news conference on Tuesday.
"I can guarantee that we will play our hearts out to accomplish what might seem like an impossible mission. It wouldn't be the first time that a more determined team got the better of a more heralded one."
Portugal won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a goal from defender Bruno Alves but are also missing a key player with Cristiano Ronaldo out injured.
