Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini will undergo wrist and pelvic surgery on Friday following a motorcycle accident in London. The 36-year-old Italian fractured both wrists and injured his pelvis in the crash on Thursday.

Tottenham's head of medical services Wayne Diesel said: "We have leading specialists looking after Carlo and once surgery is complete and his recovery is under way, we will have a clearer idea of how many weeks he will be out for."

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said: "We are all sorry to hear about what has happened to Carlo. We are just relieved that the injuries that he sustained in the accident weren't more serious. Everyone at the club sends their best wishes and we hope that he recovers soon."

Cudicini made his name with Chelsea and arrived at White Hart Lane last January on a free transfer following a decade at Stamford Bridge, where he was first choice for four seasons before the arrival of Petr Cech.
