Park Ji-sung fit for South Korea friendlies

November 12, 2009

Manchester United's Park Ji-sung has declared himself fit ahead of South Korea's friendly matches against Denmark and Serbia over the coming week, revealing that Sir Alex Ferguson agreed to send a physio along to keep a watchful eye on the winger.

Injury and the arrival of Antonio Valencia have restricted Park to around 260 minutes of club football this season, with his last appearance for United coming in the dramatic 4-3 derby win over Manchester City in September.

The South Korean captain told reporters he had sufficiently recovered from a knee injury to play in Denmark at the weekend and face Serbia in London next Wednesday.

"If possible I want to play in both matches," Park told the Korea Times on arriving in Denmark.

South Korea looked to be on a collision course with Ferguson over Park's call-up for the national side. The English champions have sent a team physician to work with Park in the hope of having him closer to full fitness when he returns to the club.

"This suggestion came from the physical trainer, not Alex Ferguson," Park said. "But Ferguson agreed to allow the trainer to come with me."
