Liverpool fail to win Philipp Degen appeal
Liverpool have failed in an attempt to have a red card shown to Philipp Degen rescinded, and the Swiss defender will now serve a three-match domestic ban.

Philipp Degen is bemused when being shown a red card.
Degen was dismissed in Liverpool's Premier League defeat to Fulham last weekend when referee Lee Mason ruled that his tackle on Clint Dempsey was a dangerous one.
Liverpool lodged an appeal against the decision but the Football Association have confirmed this has failed and that Degen will miss the upcoming home games against Birmingham City and Manchester City, as well as the Merseyside derby against Everton on November 29.
Meanwhile, both Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva and Aston Villa left back Stephen Warnock have had yellow cards transferred to team-mates after winning appeals on the basis of mistaken identity.
"At a Regulatory Commission hearing today (Wednesday), a claim for wrongful dismissal by Liverpool defender Philipp Degen was rejected," an FA statement read.
"Degen was sent off for serious foul play during Liverpool's Premier League match with Fulham on Saturday 31 October. Degen's three-match suspension begins with immediate effect.
"At the same hearing, claims of mistaken identity from Manchester United's Fabio Pereira da Silva and Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock, after they each received a caution against Barnsley and Everton respectively, were upheld. Fabio Pereira Da Silva's caution was transferred to Rafael Pereira da Silva and Warnock's caution was transferred to Stiliyan Petrov."
