Luciano Spalletti: On his way to Russia?
"We are considering matters," Spalletti, who quit Roma just two games into the season, told reporters when asked if he would succeed Anatoly Davydov at Zenit.
He added: "The national team is the dream of every coach. I feel ready, I'm talking about a foreign national side but also Italy's. Right now, if I had to make a guess I'd say my future lay more abroad."
Spalletti has no previous experience of coaching outside Italy having started his managerial career with Empoli before moving on to Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese (twice), Ancona and Roma, where he was named Serie A Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2007.
While at Roma and was linked with the vacant manager's position at Chelsea when Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked last year and is also believed to have turned down the head coach position at Atletico Madrid when Abel Resino was fired two weeks ago.
