Victory's goal rush the plan in Perth
Melbourne Victory will bank on their knack for early and late goals to finally break their A-League hoodoo in Perth on Sunday. The Victory haven't won in WA in more than three years and a 2-1 defeat there earlier this season continued the champions' dreadful run in the west. But Merrick believes his players just have to do what they have done elsewhere all season and find either a quick goal or a late one to see off the resurgent Glory.More than half Melbourne's goals this season have come in the opening 10 minutes or last five minutes of a match."The first 10 minutes of games we've scored five goals, the last five minutes we've scored six goals," Merrick said."We know we've got the level of fitness to start 100 miles an hour and get into attacking, goal-scoring positions and we can do that at the end as well."We just haven't been able to do it in Perth. That's something we've got to work on."The Victory have won five of their past six matches, climbing from a sluggish start to second on the ladder - two spots ahead of Perth.Merrick admitted his players had a psychological hurdle to overcome against the Glory, who have beaten them in their past four matches in Perth."We've won five out of the last six games, but Perth is our bogy side and we have to change that," Merrick said."I would say there's definitely something the players have to address individually."It comes down to the players to ensure they don't allow a trip over the Nullabor to affect them."Victory defender Surat Sukha will miss the match with a minor hamstring injury, but they regain experienced Rodrigo Vargas.Costa Rican midfielder Marvin Angulo is still awaiting international clearance.
