Winger Young happy to remain with Aston Villa

Ashley Young has moved to end speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur by insisting he is happy at Aston Villa.

The winger is a wanted man.

The England international has been attracting admiring glances all summer, and eyebrows were raised when Stewart Downing was signed from Middlesbrough.

With Downing injured until around December, however, there is not currently any competition for Young's place on the left flank. But with Downing fit there is every chance the rumours will resurface in January.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has always insisted there was no chance he would sell a player he called a "genius" after he bagged a later winner at Everton last season.

And now Young has told the club's official website: "If you look at when I first came here, I set myself a lot of goals.

"I've achieved some of them - like getting in the England team, winning Player of the Month awards and being named the PFA Player of the Year.

"There are still things that I want to achieve here. The club's on a high - on the way up - and hopefully so am I, so I'm happy here."
