Sean Davis: Pointing the finger at Pompey

Davis agreed a three-year deal and Bolton boss Gary Megson is pleased to have beaten the competition to the signature of the 29-year-old.

Megson said: "We are delighted to have signed such an experienced Premier League footballer. Sean made 40 appearances last season for Portsmouth and he will strengthen our midfield. We wanted to bring him to the Reebok in January but our bid of £3.5m was turned down by Portsmouth, who didn't want him to leave."

The former England Under-21 international has made nearly 200 top-flight appearances with Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth.

Davis is looking forward to challenge that lies ahead.

"I am happy my future has been sorted out," he told the club's website. "I wanted to move to a club where I can play my football and be appreciated.

"Bolton showed genuine interest in January and that was hugely encouraging.

"It is an exciting opportunity not just for me but my family as well. I want to enjoy my football and take the club forward."

Five other players have joined the seeming Pompey exodus with Noe Pamarot,Lauren, Glen Little, Djimi Traore and Jerome Thomas all available on free transfers after being released by the club.

Former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell and Nigerian striker Kanu have both come to the end of their current deals and Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie revealed talks with the duo could take place to extend their stays.

"There are not any discussions going on with Sol at the moment. In terms of whether there will be further discussions, we will look at it next week," Storrie told the club's official website.

"Kanu has the option of another year, which he is considering."

Veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson, 34, has agreed a new one-year contract at Fratton Park.

Pompey have yet to confirm a permanent management team for next season, after Paul Hart and Brian Kidd took charge over the closing months of the season following Tony Adams' dismissal.
