Keirrison had a fine season with Palmeiras.

It has been reported that the young Brazilian was close to moving to Spain and now it seems even more likely that he will be at the Camp Nou next season.

The statement, on the official Palmeiras website, read: ''This morning, Barcelona from Spain have made an official offer for the purchase of the forward Keirrison.

''Even though at the moment negotiations have not been finalised, the player won't be considered for Sunday's match against Santos.. and will remain out of the team until the situation is resolved.''

The deal could be worth between €15-20 million, while he may be sent out on loan next season if the club do not sell Samuel Eto'o.

Former Palmeiras coach Vanderlei Luxemborgo stated on his blog that "Keirrison is ready for Barca" and "the move is on the verge of being finalised".

Luxemburgo announced his departure from the club on Saturday and also talked of his disappointment at the way the Keirrison situation was handled.

"I found out through a friend last night, nobody from Traffic [who own 80% of Keirrison's rights] informed me of what was happening, much less Keirrison himself. I spoke to Kerrisions' representatives, who were extremely disrespectful," he said.
