Bayern insist Ribery will only leave for a huge fee

June 12, 2009

Bayern Munich are determined to keep hold of star midifielder Franck Ribery, but must now be aware that the new wave of cash flooding the transfer market will make him more affordable to interested clubs.

Ribery: A man in demand this summer

The Bundesliga side have already stated the France international will not leave unless a rival club comes up with an offer they cannot refuse, which general manager Uli Hoeness now says will have to be a ''crazy'' bid.

Manchester United, soon to be armed with £80m from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, will be perfectly placed to make a move though it is doubtful they will pay over the odds.

''We would only talk on very strict conditions,'' he told Munich's Tz newspaper. ''And that would be if they were prepared to do crazy things.''

Hoeness has spent much of the close season batting away questions about the 26-year-old's future, and has attempted to scare-off potential suitors. He recently claimed not one of his legs could be bought for €50m and it would take at least €100m for a deal to be entertained.

The press in Germany claim €75m - around £65m - would be enough to get the playmaker. However, it is highly unlikely any club, be it Chelsea, Manchester United or Real Madrid, would do business at that price.

Meanwhile, Hoeness also insists the only goalkeeper Bayern are only interested in signing is Schalke's Manuel Neuer, which should end speculation linking the club with bids for Fiorentina's Sebastian Frey or Hannover's Robert Enke.

''If Schalke don't want to negotiate, then we will just go into the new season with the goalkeepers we have,'' he told Munich's Abendzeitung newspaper. ''Both will then have to fight it out to be the number one and that will be a healthy and fair contest.''

Hoeness also revealed that the transfer of Danijel Pranjic from Heerenveen is hanging in the balance, despite reports that a deal has already been done.

''If Heerenveen do not move then we will drop the issue,'' he told Kicker magazine. ''This transfer is absolutely not done.''
