VICTORY IN BERLIN
German keeper claims foul for England opener
Germany goalkeeper Rene Adler believes he was impeded by Shaun Wright-Phillips in the build up to England's opening goal in Wednesday's international friendly in Berlin.
The Bayer Leverkusen player appeared to flap at a Stewart Downing corner before the ball fell to Matthew Upson to tap home and set the visitors on their way to a deserved 2-1 win.
On first viewing Adler seemed to have misjudged the flight of the ball, but replays suggested his left arm had been blocked by Wright-Phillips as he moved to intercept the cross.
"I have not seen the situation again, but I believe that it was a foul," Adler told Germany's ZDF television. "Having said that, I am the last person to admit an error.
"I wanted to punch the ball with my left hand, but the opponent tangled with my arm.
"It does look unfortunate, but I would have blown up for it."
