Spurs striker suffers serious ankle injury

Mexico forward Giovani Dos Santos is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious ankle injury in training with his Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, said manager Harry Redknapp.

"He picked up a nasty injury in training on Monday morning and he'll be out for a while. [Mexico coach] Sven-Goran Eriksson rang me a few days ago and asked how he was. We're not sure how long he'll be out for."

Mexico, who are top of their World Cup group, visit Honduras in their next qualifier on November 20.
