MOSCOW, May 27 (Reuters) - Russia coach Guus Hiddink dropped newcomers Alexander Pavlenko and Oleg Ivanov when he named his final 23-man squad for Euro 2008 on Tuesday.
Pavlenko, who plays for Spartak Moscow, and fellow
midfielder Ivanov, who plays for Krylya Sovietov Samara, were
included in a provisional 25-man list but had a little chance of
making the final selection.
'Both of them have made a good impression but unfortunately
we had to make a choice,' Hiddink told reporters at the team's
training camp in the German town of Rottach.
'We are definitely going to use them in the future during
our qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup.'
The Russians are in Group D along with European champions
Greece, Spain and Sweden.
