Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has gone against police advice not to attend
tonight's Champions League semi-final clash with Chelsea.
The controversial American is set to be in the directors' box alongside chief
executive Rick Parry, who he has asked to resign.
Meanwhile, representatives from Dubai International Capital will also be there
as guests of co-owner George Gillett, who wants to sell his 50% stake to DIC.
The boardroom battles have been badly received by fans and police today
revealed they had offered the club's owners advice on attending such a key and
potentially-explosive fixture.
A Merseyside Police spokesman told the Liverpool Echo: 'We can confirm that
advice has been given to Liverpool Football club regarding the attendance of the
club's owners. However, we are not in a position to discuss any individual's
safety.
'As with any other football event, the safety of those attending has been
reviewed.
'Merseyside Police has deployed the appropriate number of police officers
alongside stewards to tonight's match.'
DIC have also been trying to buy out Dallas-based billionaire, who Hicks
pulled the plug on any deal last month.
But DIC are aware of the financial problems Hicks could soon be facing as he
tries to fund the club's new stadium.
