Ronaldo confident of double delight for United

October 30, 2007

Cristiano Ronaldo is confident Manchester United will win the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League this season

'I believe we'll win the Premier League and Champions League this season,' the Portuguese winger said in The Sun.

'We have the team, we have the players and we believe we can do it. There's a good chance we will.

'All the players feel good, feel sharp, feel quick and they are showing on the pitch their desire to play for Manchester United.

'In the last three or four games we have scored many goals and we are more confident now.'

United face table-topping Arsenal on Saturday and Ronaldo is relishing the challenge, although he accepts it will be a difficult test.

'Arsenal are very strong and are playing fantastic, attractive football,' said Ronaldo.

'It will be a big game for us but it's a good opportunity to see how good we are.

'Arsenal have started well but the season is a marathon - you have to be consistent.'

Meanwhile, winger Nani has admitted he never expected to be given his opportunity so soon following the 20-year-old's £17million arrival from Sporting Lisbon.

At the time, Ferguson stressed Nani was a player for the future, only for a massive injury list to force the Scot into a massive change of plan.

The winger was making his 14th appearance in 15 games this season when he opened the scoring with a sensational 30-yard effort against Middlesbrough on Saturday and he admitted his entrance has taken him by surprise.
