LA Galaxy confirm games down under

October 24, 2007

David Beckham is set to play four post-season friendlies in four different countries with Los Angeles Galaxy over the next two months.

The former England captain only returned to full fitness last week following a knee injury. He was a 58th-minute substitute in Galaxy's final regular season game against Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer, which ended in a 1-0 defeat that killed off their play-off hopes.

Now Beckham can look forward to a series of friendlies, the first of them against Vancouver Whitecaps in the Canadian city on November 7.

Four days later the Galaxy are in Minneapolis to take on Minnesota Thunder before travelling to Australia to take on Sydney FC on November 27.

They will then face Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand on December 1 as Beckham bids to maintain his fitness levels.

He said after the Chicago game: ``I'm a person that likes to train and work every day.

``That's the way it's been through my whole career for the last 15 years. I've never had more than three weeks off in the summer.

``I'm not going to know what to do with myself. I'll be keeping on training and keeping fit no matter what.''

Beckham is hoping to be selected for England's final Euro 2008 qualifier at home to Croatia on November 21. The 2008 MLS season does not begin until next April.
