Scotland skipper Barry Ferguson will not be fazed by the reputations of his illustrious French opponents in the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
The Rangers midfielder will return to Alex McLeish's side after missing
yesterday's 3-1 Euro 2008 qualifying win over Lithuania through suspension.
And he has vowed to show the likes of Patrick Vieira and Claude Makelele that
he fears no-one.
'If you want to play at the highest level these players are the guys you want
to play against,' said Ferguson. 'Top-quality players. But they're just names, you shouldn't bother about
names. I don't. I guess most of our boys won't either.
'You're coming up against another guy on a park and I think sometimes you can
respect a guy too much. I give them respect for what they've done in the game but once I cross that
white line I don't care who he is.'
While the 29-year-old will cast the reputations of his opponents out of his
mind, he doubts whether the French will even know the names of the Scotland
players.
That is despite Scotland's 1-0 triumph over Les Bleus last year, which
prompted coach Raymond Domenech to accuse the Hampden ball boys of
time-wasting.
'They probably don't mention any of us,' Ferguson said. 'That's the
arrogance about them, they probably don't know who we are.
'In the second half of that game at Hampden we showed them that we can be a
good team.
'Complaining about the ball boys summed them up. That was laughable.'
