ROME, April 4 (Reuters) - Serie A side Catania will soon be able to return to their Massimino Stadium after a civil court lifted the ban imposed on the ground when a policeman was killed in rioting at a match there in February.
The ban on the Massimino, which was set to last until June
30, was handed down by the disciplinary committee of the Italian
Football League.
The civil court in Catania also lifted the second part of
the Football League's punishment, under which the club was
forced to play their remaining home games of the season at
neutral venues without spectators.
The ruling means that Catania fans will be allowed back in
the Massimino as soon as work to bring it into line with
security regulations have been completed.
In the meantime, they can attend the club's next 'home'
fixture against AS Roma at Lecce's Del Mare Stadium on Saturday.
Catania had failed in an earlier bid to get the ban
overturned in Italy's sporting courts.
