MADRID, April 3 (Reuters) - Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez said on Tuesday he hopes Mexico will allow him to complete his commitments with his club before joining up with his country's squad for international duty in the summer.
Mexico are competing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United
States between June 6-24 and then the Copa America in Venezuela
from June 26-July 15.
Spain's Primera Liga season does not end until June 17 and
the King's Cup final is not to be played until June 23. Barca
host Getafe in their cup semi-final first leg later this month.
'I have spoken with the Mexico coach (Hugo Sanchez) and told
him my priority is Barcelona. I would like to play all their
games,' Marquez told a news conference.
'I hope circumstances help and that it won't be necessary to
get directors and FIFA involved, but my idea is to stay here
until the very last game.'
Barcelona top the Primera Liga by two points with 10 games
remaining.
