Australia to meet Paraguay in Brisbane friendly
SYDNEY, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Brisbane will host the friendly international between Australia and Paraguay on October 7, Football Federation Australia said on Thursday.
The match between two teams who reached this year's World Cup finals in Germany will be played at Lang Park.
'The FFA has a significant ambition to take the Socceroos around Australia and we are delighted that football and sports fans in Brisbane will host the Socceroos so soon after their World Cup campaign,' FFA chief executive John O'Neill said in a statement.
'This game against another 2006 World Cup finalist ranked in the top 20 in the world will be a vital match in Australia's Asian Cup preparations,' Australian Sports Minister Tom Barton said.
'A large contingent of our World Cup Socceroos are expected to play in this encounter.'
