Scotland to face Switzerland in March friendly
Scotland have arranged a friendly international with Switzerland at Hampden Park in March.
Smith's side ended their failed World Cup qualifying campaign in some style with a 3-0 success thanks to wonder goals from Darren Fletcher, James McFadden and Paul Hartley. The match on March 1 next year will form part of their preparations for the Euro 2008 qualification campaign. The Swiss, who are joint-hosts of the Euro 2008 tournament, will come to Scotland for the match, and there is the added prospect of a return fixture over the following year or two. The Scottish Football Association are also in the final stages of negotiations for another attractive home international fixture on Saturday, November 12. Discussions are taking place with several European nations and an announcement will be made once a firm agreement has been reached. These are the only two international dates available to Smith's team before the end of the season. But the other important date in the diary is the Euro 2008 draw in Montreux on Friday, January 27 where Scotland will be looking for a favourable draw having finished third in Group Five with the win in Slovenia.
