Paule knots affair on PK
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ross Paule scored on a penalty kick a minute into second-half injury time to give the Columbus Crew a one-one tie with D-C United.
Crew defender Frankie Hejduk set up the tying goal by drawing a yellow card after he was pushed down in the box by D-C's Brandon Prideaux.
Paule beat goalkeeper Nick Rimando to tie it for Columbus (0-3-2).
D-C (1-2-3) is winless in their last five matches.
Dema Kovalenko opened the scoring for United on a header in the fourth minute.
Fourteen-year-old Freddy Adu made his first start at home for United and played an uneventful 60 minutes before giving way to Alecko Eskandarian.
Adu drew a foul in the 39th minute, setting up a free kick for Earnie Stewart. His shot stuck the wall of Crew defenders.
