Valeron inks new Deportivo deal
LA CORUNA, February 9 (Primera Liga) - Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Juan Carlos Valeron has extended his current deal with the club for a further three years in a move that means will effectively spend the rest of his career there.
Valeron, whose previous deal expired at the end of 2007, will now remain at Deportivo until the end of the 2009-2010 season.
By that time 28-year-old Valeron will be 34 so it is more than likely that he will end his career wearing their blue and white shirt.
Valeron, a fixture in the Spain squad, began his career with Las Palmas before moving to Mallorca and then Atletico Madrid before joining Deportivo three and a half years ago.
That move coincided with the best form of his career and he is so influential in the creative role, playing just behind the strikers that Deportivo wanted to ensure he remained for a long time into the future as the mainstay of their squad.
'There is a long way to go, but I hope I can be here until the end of my career,' said Valeron, while Deportivo president Cesar Augusto Lendoiro was also overjoyed at the deal.
'It would be hard to find a situation like this, because Valeron is the sort of person who makes a great impression, both as a person and above all as a player,' he said.
