Columbus sends draft pick to San Jose
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Crew on Tuesday acquired midfielder Manny Lagos from the San Jose Earthquakes for a third round pick in 2005.
A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Lagos has 26 goals and 33 assists in 147 MLS games.
"I am incredibly excited," Lagos said. "I am from the Midwest and Columbus is a great club. They have great facilities and it is a great atmosphere for soccer."
Lagos has notched double-digit points in five straight seasons. He started his career with the MetroStars in 1996-97, played for Chicago in 1998-99, Tampa Bay in 1999-2000 and San Jose from 2001-2003.
"In Manny we are getting a player who has won a couple of MLS championships in San Jose and who is a solid, proven professional," said Columbus coach Greg Andrulis.
Lagos helped San Jose to titles in 2001 and 2003.
