Former France international David Trezeguet is set to sign for River Plate after the Argentinian club announced he had passed a medical.

Trezeguet, 34, will complete his move this week before returning to the United Arab Emirates to conclude some issues following his short stay with Bani Yas, according to the Argentinian club's official website.

"He passed the medical examination and this week and will sign before returning to the UAE to close issues that remained pending in the Asian country," the statement read.

River also announced that Trezeguet will join his new team-mates in pre-season training on January 4, the day he will also be unveiled to the press as the club's latest recruit.
