Nagatomo, 24, arrives at Inter from Cesena, who he had represented since the summer after signing on loan from FC Tokyo, while young Nerazzurri defender Davide Santon moves the other way on loan.

The Japan star recently won the Asian Cup in Qatar with his country and also impressed during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

"The champion of Asia arrives from Cesena, who have received Davide Santon as part of the deal, also on loan," an Inter statement said.

Inter have also agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Feyenoord forward Luc Castaignos at the end of the season.

Castaignos has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in recent seasons but will link up with the Italian giants in June.
