Manchester City have confirmed the loan signing of Chile international David Pizarro from Roma.

Pizarro, 32, has made just seven appearances for Roma this season, but the holding midfielder worked under City boss Mancini when they were both at Inter Milan. He will stay at Eastlands until the end of the current campaign.

Mancini, speaking after City's 1-0 defeat to Everton, told Sky Sports News: "I know him very well. He is a good player, a good midfielder.

"He plays football very well. I think he can help us to play better in some situations."
