Ozalan and Ogun form a formidable duo at the back for both club and country and at 27, he still has a lengthy international career ahead of him. Good in the air, he likes to stick close to his man and has played in 12 consecutive matches for his country. Made his international debut against Romania in 1995 and has been first-choice ever since. He wasn't the only offender, but poor distribution in the bore draw with Sweden did little to enhance Alpay's reputation after the opening 2-1 defeat to Italy. Launched the huge up and under that led to Sukur's first goal against the Belgians. Sent off rather harshly against Portugal and his team lost as a result. His team-mates missed his aerial presence.
