While Hakan Sukur may have grabbed the majority of the headlines, 30-year-old ever-present Havutcu was the inspiration in the Turkish midfield during qualifying.
He struck the decisive away goal from the penalty spot against Ireland at Windsor Park which took his side to the finals, and netted five in total from ten starts.
He failed to stop Turkey from slipping to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Italy in their first game of Euro 2000. It was a poor defensive display by Turkey and Italy should have scored a lot more.
Came on as a substitute in the crunch victory against the Belgians.
Part of a rather porous defence against Portugal.
