Started out as a winger but has now converted to a fullback with sound defensive abilities and a penchant for penetrating forward runs. He is now battling with Michel Selgardo for a first team place after ousting Chelsea's Albert Ferrier from the final 22.
Made his debut in January 2000 against Poland and more recently has played in friendlies against Croatia, Italy and started for Spain in their final warm-up against Luxembourg.
