Michel was expected to battle it out with Chelsea's Albert Ferrer for the right full-back spot but has now established himself firmly as the number one choice. His Champions League-winning experience with Real will have added lustre to his CV. A sharp tackler with plenty of pace, he has been injury-prone in the past but comes into the Championships fully fit and acclaiamed as the best right back in the Primera Liga. Came as close as anyone to equalising against Norway and came out of the game with credit. Put up a good defensive display until he picked up an injury and was therefore out of position for Yugoslavia's first goal. Subbed at half-time. Made a couple of great challenges against the French in the quarter-finals, but his tough tackling was almost his downfall. Challenged Henry from behind on the hour mark to get a yellow and then in a rush of blood he dragged down Lizarazu on the edge of the box seven minutes later and should have gone. Had one chance going forward, but couldn't control Guardiola's through ball.
