Updated Thursday July 13, 2000, 10:02 PM GMT Josep Guardiola
The key player and captain of the Barcelona side, midfield maestro Guardiola will be a key man for Spain this summer. He looked like unpicking Norway's locks early in the opening game of Euro 2000, but that all came to nothing. A brilliant passer of the ball, he packs a fair shot and keeps the ball moving well. He scored from the spot in the warm-up draw with felow-Finalists Sweden. A fans' favourite, he is the flair man in the Spanish midfield and much depends on him this summer. Has been quiet so far in Euro 2000. Had another quiet yet efficient game against Yugoslavia. In charge of the free-kick taking again against the French in the quarter-finals and caused a lot of problems with his accurate delivery. Early chance with a dipping dead ball strike early on, which was well marshalled by Barthez.
