Etxeberria made his debut against Romania in November 1997 and has been a fixture in the national set-up ever since. His pace and determination make him a threat to any side and his goalscoring record from midfield is superb. His inclusion proves that Camacho is prepared to look outside the big clubs and judge players on their personal merits. Saw plenty of the ball against Norway but like his teammates was unable to do much with it. Scored a timely winner against Slovenia to cap a strong performance. Played the last 20 minutes against France in the quarter-finals and put in a few dangerous crosses as Spain searched for an equaliser.
