Germany has been home to Istenic for his full career. Having started at Bayer Leverkusen, he had a spell at Fortuna Dusseldorf before moving to Uerdingen.
He was on the receiving end of a relegation from the second division last season yet despite his club's problems has done enough to maintain his national place. Quite how he would feel about facing the full German national side during the tournament is anybody's guess!
