A keeper of much promise, the former U18 and U21 international graduated to the full side in September 1998, making his debut in the qualifying game with Liechtenstein, and has since shared the goalkeeping duties with Stelea.
Lobont made his name at his hometown club FC Corvinul Hunedoara before moving to Rapid Bucharest in August 1997 where he helped the side win the Romanian Cup in his first season and the league championship in his second.
Having caught the eye, he moved to Dutch giants Ajax at the end of last season.
