Updated Thursday July 13, 2000, 9:59 PM GMT Joao Pinto
Once the golden boy of Portuguese football, now approaching elder statesman status. But he remains an integral part of the squad and will be a key figure in Euro 2000. The only player to win two World Youth Cups, he made his name at Boavista before joining Benfica in 1992. A regular member of the Portugal side since making his debut against Luxembourg nine years ago. Looked very lively against England creating numerous problems for the defence. Scored the second of Portugal's three goals. Made an impression straight away when he came on as a sub against the French. Pushing the French defence on the left, but eventually faded. He should have done enough to guaraantee a new club for next season though - he has reportedly been 'sacked' by Benfica!
