Updated Thursday July 13, 2000, 9:59 PM GMT Luis Figo
Played his first game for his country as an 18-year-old against Sweden and has been part of the scene ever since. Like Rui Costa, he will be expected to push forward to support a lone striker and Portugal's success could depend on how effectively they perform. If the warm-up match against Wales is any indication the answer may be - quite well. Figo scored the first and rode some strong tackles in a match designed to get the side used to the 'British style of play'. Looked excellent against England scored the first of three Portugal goals and created the second. Quieter against Romania but still created the winning goal from Da Costa. Was in superb form against Turkey crossed for both goals and caused havoc down the left and right. Was the best of the Portuguese against the French, but it wasn't enough to outshine Zidane.
