Tottenham's top goalscorer for the last two seasons burst on to the international scene when he scored nine goals as Norway finished third in the 1998 European Under-21 Championship. He had previously won two national titles at Rosenborg which sealed a move to London and his game has developed steadily whilst at White Hart Lane. A natural goalscorer with excellent close control, he scored four goals in seven Euro 2000 qualifying games. Continued in the same vein with Norway's goal as they beat favourites Spain in Rotterdam. Scant chances to make an impression against Yugoslavia and was replaced by Carew. Recovered from a broken nose to play against Slovenia but was ineffectual. Good in the air, strong and with a good shot but frequent injuries seem to prevent him ever getting a settled run for club or country. Says his favourite game was beating AC Milan away 2-1 for his former Norwegian club Rosenborg.
