The former Rosenborg player has been dogged by niggly injuries over the last six months which have restricted his impact at Anfield, but he remains a firm favourite in the Norway set-up. He is supremely versatile and can play at right-back, wing-back, right midfield or as an out-and-out winger. Happier going forward than in defence, he is best remembered for scoring Rosenborg's winner against AC Milan at the San Siro in the Champions League in 1997. Competing with former Anfield teammate Stig Inge Bjornbye for a place in the team but did himself no harm at all with a strong performance against the Spanish. Given few opportunities to get forward against Yugoslavia and was substituted after pulling up with a suspected hamstring injury.
