Bierhoff ruled out for group phase
Germany's Euro 2000 hopes have been dealt a blow with the news that Oliver Bierhoff will miss his country's final two group games after injuring his calf in training.
Maldini fit to play against Belgium
Italian captain Paolo Maldini has recovered from a calf injury picked up in training and can play in the Euro 2000 game against Belgium later.
Bierhoff sidesteps Matthaeus question
Germany captain Oliver Bierhoff sidestepped the Euro 2000 furore surrounding Lothar Matthaeus and said it was up to coach Erich Ribbeck whether the veteran libero played against England on Saturday.
Spain refuse to admit to shortcomings
Spanish players joined their coach on Wednesday in blaming their woeful 1-0 defeat by Norway on bad luck rather than any failings in their own game.
