GEEL, Belgium, June 27 (Reuters) - Italy defenders Paolo Maldini and Fabio Cannavaro should be fit for their side's Euro 2000 semifinal against the Netherlands on Thursday.
Maldini had been doubtful for the match in Amsterdam after pulling a left thigh muscle in Sunday's 2-0 quarter- final defeat of Romania.
But he resumed light training on Tuesday after X-rays taken on Monday night suggested the injury was less serious than feared.
'He'll train again tommorow and then we'll see but it looks as though he should be available,' an Italian team spokesman said.
Cannavaro dropped out before the end of Tuesday's session and said afterwards: 'It's a problem with my right knee. It's an inflammation I've had for a couple of days and today it was hurting so I stopped.'
Asked whether the injury could keep him out of Thursday's game, Cannavaro said: 'I don't think so'.
