TEGELEN, Netherlands (Reuters) - Spanish skipper Fernando Hierro should be fit for Sunday's Euro 2000 Quarter-final against France in Bruges after a scan on his injured thigh on Thursday revealed no serious problems.
Hierro missed Spain's remarkable 4-3 victory over Yugoslavia after suffering the injury during his side's 2-1 win over Slovenia on Sunday.
Team doctor Genaro Borras said the scan had shown no rupture of the muscle, though, and added that the normal recovery time was only three to four days.
Hierro was one of seven players to miss training on Thursday as coach Jose Antonio Camacho decided to give a full rest day to some of the players who pulled off Spain's historic comeback win against Yugoslavia.
Pep Guardiola, Raul, Michel Salgado, Gaizka Mendieta, Alfonso and Abelardo were the other players spared active duty, while their colleagues took only a light training session.
Salgado, who was taken off at halftime on Wednesday with a knee injury, is also expected to be fit for Sunday. Midfielder Fran was back in training after a cut forehead forced his early exit from the match.
