Frank de Boer happy to stay home

AMSTERDAM, June 21 (Reuters) - Defender Frank de Boer said the Dutch had achieved their objective by beating France 3-2 in Euro 2000 on Wednesday and ensuring they play their Quarter-final on home soil in Rotterdam.

'I think it's important that we ended on top of the group,' De Boer said.

The Dutch now play Yugoslavia while Group D runners-up France meet Spain in Bruges.

'Spain is a lot stronger than Yugoslavia as an opponent. Yugoslavia played a tough match today and picked up some red and yellow cards and that could be to our advantage.'

De Boer said he thought the Dutch had played their best game of the tournament. 'In the first two matches we didn't play well but won whereas here in the first half we played well and found ourselves 2-1 down. We hardly allowed them any chances but they scored twice from nothing situations,' he said.

De Boer said the goals were in part down to poor communication in the Dutch defence. 'In the second half we were lucky that the game turned around with my free-kick,' he added.

De Boer levelled the score at 2-2 with a thumping free kick.
