Denmark 0 - 2 Czech Republic
Vladimir Smicer, the Liverpool midfielder, finally gave the Czech Republic fans some moments to savour with a rapid-fire double on a night when only pride was at stake.
Up to that point the Czechs, who welcomed back Patrick Berger after a two-game suspension, had looked a pale imitation of the side who had qualified from Scotland's group with a 100 per cent record.
Denmark themselves produced their best display of the tournament and created the best first-half chances but the touch of strikers Mikkel Beck and Jon Dahl Tomasson was poor.
The Czechs snatched the lead against the run of play when Smicer swept in Karel Poborsky's cross in the 64th minute. Three minutes later he rounded Peter Schmeichel to make it two.
