ROTTERDAM, June 21 (Reuters) - UEFA said on Wednesday it had banned Belgian goalkeeper Filip De Wilde for two matches following his red card during the Euro 2000 defeat by Turkey.
De Wilde, who had a miserable tournament, was sent off late in the game for felling Turkey's Arif Erdem outside of the penalty box.
Co-hosts Belgium are already out of the competition so De Wilde will have to serve his ban during the World Cup qualifying campaign which begins in the autumn.
UEFA also fined the Turkish soccer association £1,210 as a punishment after its jubilant fans let off flares in the stadium in Brussels.
The Turks were celebrating a victory which put them into the Quarter-finals for the first time in their history.
